Northern Education Trust Dyke House Academy continues to celebrate students’ pride in their work.

PROUD THURSDAY is a celebratory event in all Northern Education Trust academies, where students can show off the work they are proud of, to teachers and their peers.

Hundreds of students look forward to the event every week, where they receive praise and congratulations for their efforts on a wide variety of work.

As we all try to adapt with the way the coronavirus has impacted on our lives, and we have had to change our way of living and being educated, our academies don’t want to lose the really good things that enrich our students’ experiences. So Northern Education Trust Dyke House Academy has set up an electronic PROUD THURSDAY.

Students can email their work to the academy, and staff will look at every single item and respond with positive, congratulatory comments. Students are being encouraged to send documents, photos and videos of whatever piece of work they are most proud of that week, and staff will publish examples through the website and social media. They’ll also get an electronic certificate and perhaps even a rewards voucher that can be redeemed online.

Adam Palmer, Principal, said: “Our students are always so proud of the work they do in school and our PROUD event is always extremely popular, with lots of students keen to show staff their work. We acknowledge that our students are having to adapt to the current climate and stay indoors, but we also know that there are lots of creative things taking place at home and we are keen to praise them for their efforts. PROUD THURSDAY electronically will be a great way of keeping in touch and for us to show how proud we are. I think even some of the staff are keen to get involved which would be nice too”
