Operational Issues – 7 November 2025
A fire alarm was activated today at Dyke House Academy, causing a slight interruption over lunchtime. Students were evacuated whilst the cause of the alarm was investigated. The alarm was showing as being triggered in the roof void, but upon investigation, the area was completely clear of smoke or fire, and the alarm was deemed to be a fault. Students returned to the academy and staff ensured that all students received their lunch.
Unfortunately as the alarm was due to a fault, it could not be reset, causing the building’s water to be shut off. Toilets were still able to be used as the water system continues to hold a limited amount of water, and hygiene was maintained through the use of hand sanitiser.
Senior leaders took the decision to keep students in school for the remainder of the day, as this was felt to be a safer option than releasing students into the community earlier than normal.
The alarm company have attended site and the fault has been rectified. The academy will reopen as normal on Monday.
