Northern Education Trust Dyke House Academy celebrates GCSE results
Students at Northern Education Trust Dyke House Academy, one of 17 secondary academies sponsored by the trust, have achieved their best ever GCSE results.
The academy has shown an improvement in the number of passes in English and maths and secured a significant number of strong passes (Grade 5) in English and maths. 57% of students achieved a strong pass in English and maths compared to 48% last year.
An amazing 75% students overall achieved a pass in English and maths, demonstrating an improvement of 7% on last year’s results.
There were some outstanding individual successes:
Isabel secured grades 9s in all subjects, including English language, English literature, maths, biology, chemistry, physics, geography, history and performing arts.
Arun achieved grade 9s in English language, English literature, science, maths, computer science and enterprise. Arun also achieved a grade 8 in French.
Mollie achieved grade 9s in English language, English literature, biology, chemistry, computer science, French and geography. Mollie achieved grades 8s in physics and maths.
Dean Cope, Principal of Dyke House Academy thanked the students and staff for their efforts and commitment, saying: “This is an excellent set of results for the Dyke House Academy. The students have worked extremely hard to achieve at these levels, with some students having overcome difficult barriers to do so. These results are the culmination of years of hard work for our students, and I’m absolutely delighted with their achievements. It shows what hard work and dedication can lead to. I’d like to thank the staff for their continued passion for ensuring our students succeed – these results are testament to their energy and enthusiasm for helping our students achieve the very best from their education. I would also like to thank parents and carers for working in partnership with the academy over the last 5 years, their significant contribution has supported the success of their child. Without your support the incredible outcomes achieved would not have been possible.“
